When I write a post, I try to bring into the post something unique about the session and the experience. Being and artist, like a musician, or poet, or any other creative element also brings with it a certain element of wearing a part of that side of you out in the open for all to either embrace or tear down. Possessing this sensitive side of yourself, can be at times a vulnerable side, as well as side that can bring a sense of connectedness to those around you. As a photographer, I experience both. It comes with the territory. As does music, I am sure to Decker. Decker is a genius musically and on his trombone. It is his gift to the world. When his mother and I spoke on the telephone, we connected immediately. (This is going to be a long post). Michelle is one of those people who is great at communicating what she wants, and she also knows what she wants. She had done her research…and it was my work that she found the connection as the photographer to capture her son. As a mother who has a daughter just less than two years away from becomming a Senior herself, I understand that Senior Pictures are both for the teenager and for the parent. As we talked about creating Deckers session, it was then that I realized this is why I do photography…to capture one’s soul. As the session approached, I was looking forward to meeting both Decker and Michele. It was a quite a moment when during the session a train went by in the background and Decker was holding his horn. As the train connected him to his childhood, his horn connected him to his merging into adulthood. It was perfect. And as Decker played his trombone, while I was given the honor to create the images that would preserve the moment, I was inspired to remember the gifts we are given and the joy and beauty and responsibility we are given to share our gifts. Thank you Decker and Michelle for sharing with me…and allowing me to give back. Most Sincerely…Heather

Emily’s session took place with her friend Gretchen (below). Our morning was a lovely morning. When I think of Emily I can describe her in one word…sweet. I just love the picture of her leaning on the railing with her chin on her hands. This image fits her so well…(I think anyways). Of course when we got to railroad tracks and she pulled out her red boots…well I tell you…she really seemed to be very comfortable with her fun and outgoing side as well! It was so cool when she shared her story of the red boots with me! I just loved it! I will give you a hint: Footloose! Emily’s session was shot downtown Newnan and at Line Creek. This is the first time I have used this set of railroad tracks…I really loved the bridge in the background.

Gretchen and Emily (above) are really close friends and they wanted to do their senior pictures together. It will be a fun memory for the girls and the mom’s as well who joined us. We started out at my home studio very close to Northgate High School. The girls chose Downtown Newnan and Line Creek as their locations. It was an overcast day. I tell people I love shooting in overcast days. It actually opens up so many more possiblites for shooting. I love the coca-cola wall we found right on the square. It is actually one of those sites I have driven by many times before…but when you are in the right frame of mind it is almost like you are discovering it for the first time. I love living in an area so rich in fun shooting places. It is nice to have all these wonderful locations right in my back yard. It is really fun to see how the personality of my seniors is really coming out in the sessions. It is important to me to hopefully capture personality as well. Gretchen was so much fun and adventurous! It was a fun morning!

What an amazing session! I simply must say! WOW! Haleigh was recommended to me through a long time friend. As it turns out, Haleigh’s mom was telling me that just as my friend was telling her about me, at that very moment she was on my website…( I just had to add in that little detail.) As you can see we did a few shots at ANDY’S NURSERY just before in arriving in Peachtree City. The nursery is actually just beside Collector Corner on the corner of 54 and 34. It is nestled between two of my favorite shooting spots…Line Creek in Peachtree City…and Old Town Sharpsburg. If you are a gardener…or flower lover, you simply must check out Andy’s Nursery! Of course after my shoot, I stopped in to buy a couple rare plants and a wonderfully, ripe delicious fresh peach. I just love living in the moment…it is always fun to change up routine just a little and live in your own town as if you were on vacation and exploring the local scene. Haleigh and her mother were a true pleasure..and myself..well I was just a lucky photographer!

Jeremy is #44 for the East Coweta Indians football team. He was so busy with practices it was hard to narrow down a day for senior pictures. It’s so hot down here in Georgia, I honestly don’t know how they manage practices this time of year. We tried to beat the heat with the session, but by 11 am we were already almost at out max. Jeremy didn’t realize it, but he was very easy to photograph. I am not sure he was looking forward to giving up a Saturday morning to do pictures, but I think he actually might have enjoyed getting his pictures made just a little. I am under the conclusion that guys just aren’t into pictures as much as us gals. But they go along with it for moms sake. Jeremy agreed to be a Senior rep for me and I promised I would change the design for his marketing materials to go along with his personality. Again, I have to give a special thank you to Gary the owner of Head Games. He refurbishes juke boxes and is always so gracious when I bring a client over to his shop. I actually lost touch with him when he moved from Old Town Sharpsburg around the corner to HWY 54. If you get a moment to check out his shop you will be amazed at his incredible talent for bringing back life into these wonderful boxes of music.

Love that shot with the motion blur! Amazing job!
